Pipeline Technician

The Pipeline Technician maintains and operates crude oil pipelines, pump stations and all of the associated equipment. Depending on the location such equipment may include pumps, motor operated valves, pressure switches, electric motors, transmitters, vibration switches, electronic controls and pressure regulators. The Pipeline Technician performs mechanical functions and duties of inspecting, checking, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing mechanical equipment in order to maintain high levels of safe and productive equipment performance.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
oPerforming or assisting with routine maintenance of pumps and electric motors such as bearing and seal replacements, alignments, couplings, sumps, fans, drain piping modifications, etc.
oMaintenance on other mechanical equipment such as block valves, control valves, air compressors, valve actuators, etc.
oAssist with replacement of pumps, motors, valves, and other equipment as needed.
oMaintain and operate custody transfer measurement facilities and perform product quality control tests.
oParticipate and successfully complete training programs, process safety management reviews, and safety meetings required to comply with state and federal regulations.
oMust meet the requirements of the Company's Operator Qualification
oReviews procedures as necessary to ensure compliance of all company and industry standards to meet all regulatory agency requirements.
oPerforms remedial and preventative maintenance and maintains facility appearance and safety through good housekeeping practices inside and outside of the facilities.
oPerform preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment and parts associated with this equipment.
oProvide training and technical support.
oUtilizes precision tools and test equipment as needed.
oResponds to operational emergencies as a member of an area emergency response team.
oPerforms regulatory required inspections.
oMonitors crude oil receipt and delivery activities to appropriate pipelines or tankage.
oLocate pipelines as needed and oversee excavations and line crossings.
oLaunch and receive cleaning pigs and assist with the launch and receiving of smart pigs.
oInstall pipeline markers and do routine inspections on ROW.
oMaintain and operate corrosion control equipment.
oAttend and participate in damage prevention meetings.
oInterface with various landowners including private, state, federal, etc.
The successful candidate will meet the following
Qualifications:
oHigh school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
oVoTech certificate or Associates degree or related work experience is preferred.
oPrevious experience and knowledge of industry related maintenance and repair standards is preferred.
oKnowledge of the general design and operation of a crude oil pipeline.
oBasic computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
oValid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
oMinimum of 3 years stable work history, preferably in the energy industry.
o2-4 years previous experience with the operation, maintenance, and/or construction of a crude oil pipeline facility and tank farm facilities preferred.
oPossess a strong commitment to personal and job safety.
oMust demonstrate mechanical aptitude and dexterity in the use of tools and equipment.
oKnowledge of pumps, regulators, MOVs, electronic controls and medium electrical voltage is desired with an understanding of crude oil pipelines.
oAbility to read and interpret alignment sheets, schematics and P&IDs.
oMust be able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
oExcellent written and verbal communication skills, decision making skills and strong work ethic.
oAble to work independently as well as maintain and promote good working relationships within a team environment.
oAble to assume responsibility, be flexible, perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.
oMust be willing to work overtime and call-outs.
oRequired to live within 1 hour response time of job assignment.
oSelf-motivated individual; accountable and self driven to learn and to continuously develop and improve his/her skills through both formalized and on the job training.
oMust be able to demonstrate sound judgment with the ability to make decisions and corrections when problems are detected.

oWorks indoors and outdoors in and around industrial and electrical equipment.
oWorks in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment.
oUses physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment and tools.
oClimbs and works at various heights and may work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position.
oRoutinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
oMay work in confined spaces (i.e., tanks, between compressors, vessels).
oMust be able to regularly bend, stoop, move from ground level to higher levels, raise/lift from ground level and lift up to 50 lbs.
oMust have ability to get in and out of vehicles regularly and ride over rough roads.
oMust wear special safety equipment while working and must be able to lift and put on emergency breathing apparatus and/or protective equipment.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
